Audiology Team

The Audiologists of Michigan Ear Institute are the most experienced group in the Detroit area. They come from varied experiences to add to the excellence in care for our patients. Our Audiologists are experienced in many types of balance testing and sales of many types of hearing aids. Their experience has led them to participate in writing several research papers, chosen to work with state societies and participate in testing equipment from various vendors.

Sally Delong

is a native Detroiter and a former teacher of the hearing impaired. She earned her undergraduate degree with a major is special education from Eastern Michigan University. After teaching hearing-impaired children in Detroit, Ms. Augustyniak enrolled in graduate school and obtained her Master's Degree in Audiology from Wayne State University. She is a member of the Cochlear Implant Team. With over 20 years experience as an audiologist she is an Assistant Director of Audiology and Electrophysiology at Michigan Ear Institute.


 

Paulette G. McDonald, M.A., CCC-A

is the Director of Audiology and Cochlear Implant team coordinator.  Paulette received her Master of Arts Degree in Audiology in 1984 from Wayne State University.  Paulette has been on staff at the Michigan Ear Institute since 1986.  Paulette interests include pediatric audiology and cochlear implant testing and programming.  To see the change that cochlear implantation can make for the severely hearing impaired is remarkable and rewarding.  Paulette is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, the American Academy of Audiology and The Michigan Academy of Audiology.  Paulette is a past board member of the Michigan Academy of Audiology and is on the program committee for the state convention, the Michigan Audiology Coalition. Paulette is the editor of the Michigan Academy of Audiology Newsletter.  Paulette holds her license in Audiology for the State of Michigan.


 

Joy Wolney

obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Sciences in 1989 and her Master’s degree in Audiology in 1991 from Purdue University.  She worked in three different hospital settings prior to moving to Michigan in 1998 when she joined the Audiology staff at the Michigan Ear Institute.  Joy has extensive experience in vestibular testing, advanced audiological testing and hearing aid fittings.  Joy has experienced first-hand the significant positive impact that acquiring a hearing aid can make in an individual’s life and she enjoys working closely with patients and families to improve their communication ability.


 

Paulette Patrick

A senior audiologist with Michigan Ear Institute, has 25 years experience.  Educated at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, She left the mid-west a year after graduation for Las Vegas, Nevada.  She spent 18 years working for Otolaryngologists doing diagnostic testing and hearing aid dispensing.  In 2002, Paulette moved to Michigan and joined Michigan Ear Institute in January 2003.  Now a seven year resident of Michigan, she enjoys camping, gardening, bike riding and hiking with her husband and three sons.


 

Michael Robinette, AuD., CCC-A

Dr. Michael Robinette received his Doctor of Audiology degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2004.  Dr. Robinette has been on staff at the Michigan Ear Institute since 2003 where he completed his clinical fellowship.  Dr. Robinette is a board certified audiologist and holds his audiology licensed in the State of Michigan. Dr. Robinette’s interests include hearing aid technology, vestibular and electrophysiology testing and tinnitus management.  He is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech Language Hearing Association.


 

Sandra L Porps, Au.D. CCC-A

Graduated cum laude from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2001 with a bachelors degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. Dr. Porps received her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) in 2005 from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. In 2004, Dr. Porps joined the Michigan Ear Institute team and became a full staff member in 2005. Dr. Porps performs hearing tests, balance testing, central auditory processing tests, and advanced electrophysiology tests. Dr. Porps also enjoys working with hearing aids and Baha and is proud to serve as a member of the cochlear implant team. Dr. Porps is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed by the state of Michigan. In 2008, Dr. Porps accomplished a personal goal by (finally) fitting her father with a pair of hearing aids. Her mother was very proud.

Brandy Klann

Brandy Klann received her Bachelor's Degree in Audiology & Speech Sciences from Michigan State University and her Master's Degree in Audiology from Western Michigan University. She has been a member of our Audiology team since 2003. She has a special interest in working with Cochlear implant patients and feels blessed to have a role in changing the lives of people with profound hearing loss.
