Dr. Jacob C. Lucas specializes in Otology, Neurotology, and Lateral Skull Base Surgery. His expertise is in the medical and surgical treatment of hearing and balance disorders in adults and children. His clinical interests include minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical approaches to the ear, skull base tumors, cochlear implants, chronic ear infections, cholesteatoma, facial nerve disorders, Eustachian tube dysfunction, and Meniere’s disease.
Dr. Lucas joins the practice after completion of a fellowship in Neurotology here at the Michigan Ear Institute. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri – Columbia, medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and completed a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. During training, he received multiple awards and commendations for his teaching, leadership, and research.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lucas is actively involved in the education of ENT residents and Neurotology fellows that work within the Michigan Ear Institute. He is also engaged in research, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters within the field of Neurotology. He has lectured and presented his research at local and national meetings. He is a member of the Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS), the American Neurotology Society (ANS), and the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS).
