Dennis I. Bojrab, M.D.

Dr. Bojrab is board certified in Otology, Neurotology, Otolaryngology and Skull Base Surgery. He is regionally, nationally, and internationally respected for his expertise in evaluation and management of the patient afflicted with dizziness, treatment of chronic ear infections, hearing restoration surgery, medical and surgical treatment of facial nerve disorders and skull base tumors.

Seilesh C. Babu, M.D.

Dr. Babu is a board certified in Otology, Neurotology, Otolaryngology and Skull Base Surgery. He attended the accelerated program for combined B.S./M.D. studies at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Dr. Babu completed his Otolaryngology training at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI and his fellowship at the Michigan Ear Institute. He has clinical interests in ear surgery, hearing loss and reconstruction, dizziness, cochlear implants, acoustic neuromas, skull base lesions and facial nerve weakness in children and adults.  Dr Babu has numerous articles and book chapters written in these areas.

Robert S. Hong, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Hong is a board certified in Otology, Neurotology, Otolaryngology and Skull Base Surgery. Specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of ear and skull base disorders in both adults and children.  He completed his residency training in otolaryngology at the University of Iowa and an accredited fellowship in ear and skull base surgery at Michigan Ear Institute.  Concurrent with his residency, he completed a National Institutes of Health research fellowship and obtained a Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences, focusing on cochlear implants.  His clinical interests include ear infections, hearing loss, dizziness, facial weakness, cochlear implants, and acoustic neuromas.

John Zappia, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Zappia is a board certified in Otology, Neurotology, Otolaryngology and Skull Base Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. After general surgical internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, he completed an N.I.H. funded research fellowship at the Kresge Hearing Research Institute in Ann Arbor.

Eric W. Sargent, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Eric Sargent, MD, FACS, is a board certified Neurotologist and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons who has been with the Michigan Ear Institute since 2001. He is Clinical Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at Wayne State University and before joining the Michigan Ear Institute was Associate Professor and Director of Otology/Neurotology at Saint Louis University.

Dr. Chan is a board certified Otolaryngologist and Head & Neck Surgeon, with sub specialty training in Otology and Neurotology. She received her M.D. degree from the University of British Columbia, and pursued her Residency in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Ottawa in Canada.

Ilka C. Naumann, M.D.

Dr. Naumann is board certified in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery and holds a board certification in Otolaryngology in the USA and the European Union. Raised in Berlin, Dr. Naumann graduated from Humboldt University Medical School and completed her medical dissertation on the Genetics of Neurofibromatosis with Magna Cum Laude.

Dr. Dennis Bojrab II is a Board-Certified Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon, who then completed a fellowship in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of ear and skull base disorders for both pediatric and adult patients. His clinical interests include management of patients afflicted with chronic ear infections, eustachian tube dysfunction, dizziness, and hearing loss with medical and surgical treatments. This includes facial nerve disorders and skull base tumors in patients of all ages.

Michael J. LaRouere, M.D.

Emeritus Physician

Dr. LaRouere is a board certified Otolaryngologist Head and Neck Surgeon who is Fellowship trained in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery. He has been a partner at the Michigan Ear Institute since 1989 and just recently retired.

Malcom Graham, M.D.

Dr. Malcolm Graham completed his MD degree at the McGill University, Montreal, PQ, Canada (1957), his Residency in Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery at the State University of Iowa (1962). He also completed a Fellowship in Otology and Neurotology at the House Ear Institute, formerly the Los Angeles Foundation of Otology (1971). Dr. Graham was involved with the creation of the Michigan Ear Institute when he joined practices with Dr. Ted McGee. He has pioneered approaches in Otology and skull base surgeries over his many years of practice. His articles have been published in a number of leading journals. Dr. Graham currently serves as a Professor for the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery located at Emory University School of Medicine.

Jack Kartush.

In May 2012, we bid a fond farewell to our colleague, Dr. Jack M Kartush, MD. Dr. Kartush took an early retirement for health reasons.  Dr. Kartush is one of the original “Founding Fathers“ of Michigan Ear Institute with Dr’s Dennis Bojrab, Malcolm Graham and Ted McGee. He established our facial nerve monitoring program, Neurotology Fellowship program and temporal bone laboratory.  Dr. Kartush is a recognized pioneer in facial nerve monitoring and Patient Safety, being the first to recommend that surgeons mark the surgical site before an operation. His Facial Nerve Integrity Monitor is used in operating rooms throughout the world every day.  He has over 200 scientific publications and a dozen medical and surgical patents.
